What’s up with pro fighters saying “I don’t spar anymore”?
Have you heard fighters say they don’t spar? What does that actually mean?

Soccer kicks are NOT a game changer in MMA

Soccer kicks and stomps to the head of a downed fighter are controversial techniques that have been illegal in the UFC since the year 2000. But not every MMA organization uses the unified rules of Mixed Martial Arts (ie: UFC rules) So we not only have a substantial library of footage of fights using soccer kicks to study, but the experience of someone who has fought under that particular rule s...

Did our renowned Olympic boxing medalist misunderstand something about Steven Seagal’s aikido demo? Or was his reaction spot on? Q&A with the coach. A viewer asks something about Krav Maga, or self defense, or something… but lost me when he repeatedly said that if a government endorses a hand to hand combat system, then it must be valid.

Strange things were afoot with the audience retention of my last video. As it turns out, most of the viewers didn’t actually watch my video… they watched response videos and got mad about the strawman argument that “training is pointless”. Let’s talk about strawman arguments, nerds, applying science to a fantasy franchise like Star Wars, and responding to some comments.

I've seen boxers who are also "from the skreets" knock out and stomp quite a few aggressive "skreet fighters". Now boxers who are just pure athletes, that might be a different story.

I don't think "more dangerous" is used wisely. Personally, I practice aiming for the eyes with nukites on my bob, to practice my speed, my precision and to toughen my fingers. My preferred targets are the eyes, throat, neck, knees, ankles and top of the foot, etc. In the dojo, I no longer use the pad but directly the brick wall to hit mawashi, yoko or ushiro geri, for hardening. Obviously we don't teach this to children in a karate class.

Ramsey, is Beach Wrestling a martial art/effective? Or should I teach myself Judo with my grappling dummy? There is, no close Wrestling or Judo school (jerk choked me unconscious even though I tapped); and I liked BJJ - but got sick of reading on the instructors IG, BJJ is the greatest art, etc, aggressive nature of the guys and me coming from a very long TKD background.

Hey coach, i get your point about aggression. but, what might make matters worse for the average, non-aggressive martial artist...i was wondering how many aggressive attackers in da streetz are really untrained? i work in a clinic for drug addicts, many of whom have some convictions for assault. and a very high percentage of them train or have trained combat sports, kick boxing being the most common. oh, and many of them like their work outs, too, so they're pretty strong.

@RamseyDewey I couldn’t agree more! It’s frustrating as a coach constantly dealing with students who don’t know how tone it down! Establishing and maintaining gym culture is work man! The key point here is sparring is a tool, a tool that needs to be used in at least 20% of your training. It’s really frustrating when some students can’t control themselves because it pushes the gym towards less sparring. Comments on RUclips about the need to “pressure test” are so darned irritating because it makes an existing problem worse (students who go hard and don’t learn control). Eventually some coaches just say f’ck it, no more sparring! Then they create students who don’t know how to fight who become teachers themselves…. And there you go another McDojo! It would be a service to all coaches if more RUclipsrs out there did a bit more of what you do! Talk about controlled sparring in the context of an overall martial arts education that includes: theory, physical fitness, forms and shadow boxing, drills, etc. proper training is the integration of all of it! You can’t do drills correctly without sparring, and you can’t learn something to fluency to use in sparring without repetition. It’s not that hard, people just want simple answers…. There is only one simple answer “get out there and train”

1:48 - Correct! It seems the people felt it was the same god with different names in different languages. Now, if you wanna check out an example of ancient Greek _realpolitik_ regarding religion, look up _Serapis,_ a god just as made up as all the rest, but one where it's documented how the sausage was made and why.

Its not an ridiculous agumment because in the streets u are better off on your feet especially there are multiple dudes u cant grapple ten people buh u can punch and kick them thats why a Muay thai guy is way better coz lets take a bjj in street u are not gonna have chance fighting multiple people its risk for striking and grappling buh for striking if u know that u are loosing u can just run for your life for a bjj if u on the ground fighting u cant easily back up and if they got weapons its a nightmare for grapplers so u better of standing even if there is no multiple people end the fight standing is the best obviously u need wrestling if u get tackled so that u can easly stand up and keep on fightimg or u just run for your life a Striker is better off than grappling in da streets
